PORTLAND — Police arrested two men after chasing a Toyota 4Runner through the streets of outer southeast Portland.

The pursuit began early Monday after an officer tried to stop the driver because of a traffic violation.

Police say the driver made a U-turn and drove toward the officer. He then drove over a curb and collided with a fence and hot tub before hitting the bumper of an occupied patrol vehicle.

The pursuit continued until the Toyota reached a dead end. The vehicle crashed over a berm and into a thicket of blackberry bushes.

Officers found the driver hiding in water near the Springwater Corridor Trail. The passenger tried to run, but was slowed by the blackberry bushes and captured.

Police say the driver, 29-year-old Justin Greenslitt, and passenger, 37-year-old Alexander King, were treated at a hospital before going to jail.

Greenslitt was charged with attempted assault and other crimes. King was jailed on multiple warrants.
