Letter: Medicare for All bill is righteous

Is for-profit health insurance moral? I am not specifically religious, but I have come to respect the soul-searching inquiry of “What would Jesus do?”

Most politicians, including our U.S. representative, espouse their Christian values at every opportunity, but “WWJD” goes out the window while serving the health insurance industry and Big Pharma.

Decades of brainwashing by for-profit minions have obscured the absolute immorality of letting capitalism trump human values.

For generations, we’ve heard the big lie that “market-based solutions” and “competition” will magically provide “affordable” health care to those who have no money. Now, we have the world’s highest health care costs, with far from the best results.

Bernie Sanders is Jewish, often accused of being an atheist, but his “Medicare for All” bill passes the “WWJD” test. However, the bought-and-paid-for, Christian-value politicians ask “Where will we find the money?” Add up the corruption of our trillion-dollar-plus wars, hundreds of billions in taxable income hidden offshore, and obscene health care profits. The money is there.

If there is a second coming, I pity those basking in the blood money of outrageous health care profits, and the politicians protecting such an immoral system.

“WWJD?” My guess is he will smite butt and take names.
