Letter: Transparency needed in port race

In her Sept. 20 voter challenge to the residency of port candidate Don Orange, Carolyn Crain complained about transparency and integrity, but refused to show transparency by not saying who was paying for the lawyer presenting her side of the case.

Crain has no credibility when acting in such a hypocritical manner. Is the lawyer being paid by Tesoro/Vancouver Energy, which is trying to buy Orange’s port commission opponent with $80,000 in campaign funds? If Crain is so interested in protecting voters’ rights, as she claims, doesn’t she think they have a right to know who’s trying to intimidate and knock Orange off the ballot, so that we’ll only have one choice of who to vote for — the oil interest’s choice?
