A transient man who allegedly possessed thousands of images of child pornography on his phone made a first appearance Monday in Clark County Superior Court.

Colt L. Bailey, 25, appeared on suspicion of 10 counts each of first-degree possessing and viewing depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Bailey’s cousin, Michelle Taylor, and another woman, Desiree Smith, contacted the Clark County Sheriff’s Office after finding suspected child pornography on Bailey’s cellphone, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

Bailey reportedly left his phone in Smith’s car. When she unlocked his phone, she said she found a folder containing more than 8,000 images of child pornography depicting girls between the ages of 5 to 10, the affidavit states.

Smith took the phone to Taylor, who also saw the images, and they turned the phone over to the sheriff’s office, court records said.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for the cellphone and discovered thousands of images of suspected child pornography. One image depicted a child who appeared to be as young as 3, according to court documents.

Bailey was arrested Friday. During an interview with investigators, he admitted the phone was his and that he downloaded the images. Bailey reportedly said he is “sick and knows he has a problem,” the affidavit states.

On Monday, his bail was set at $25,000. He will be arraigned Friday.
