Washougal — Students at Jemtegaard Middle School and Canyon Creek Middle School created the “It’s Time to Be Kind” project, letting students celebrate acts of kindness of all sizes. The students put colorful Post-It notes on a poster in their cafeterias listing their acts of kindness for all to see. The project was brought to both schools by their respective prevention clubs. In addition to the Post-It notes, students also created inspirational posters to hang around their schools. “This project, and many others in our schools, are important to showcase the good that is out there,” Wendy Butler, prevention and intervention specialist from Educational Services District 112, said in a release from the district. “It helps our students see that even small acts of kindness plied together becomes a mountain of change for them and their peers. Through working together, our students are empowered and learn to use their voices to make a difference. These types of projects help us all to feel more connected and united as a community.”
