Vancouver police responding to reports of shots fired Wednesday night found a vehicle parked at a Bagley Downs apartment complex damaged from gunfire.

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Nicholson and Falk roads about 8:05 p.m., according to emergency call logs.

Callers reported hearing shots near the intersection at the 2900 block of Caples Avenue, Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said in an email.

“(A)n officer in the area on an unrelated call also heard shots,” Kapp said.

Police located a vehicle that had three bullet holes, as well as several bullet casings in a residential parking lot, Kapp said. No other damage was noted in the police reports, she said.

No injuries were reported.

It is unknown if the shooting was targeted or gang-related. The investigation was forwarded to the police department’s Safe Streets Task Force, the gang unit.

Shootings with unknown motives are often sent to the unit, Kapp said.

“Follow up by (Safe Streets) does not necessarily indicate gang involvement,” she said.
