Boys basketball: Columbia River 54, Washougal 23

The Columbia River boys basketball team clinched a share of the 2A Greater St. Helens League title with a stifling defensive effort in a 54-23 win over Washougal on Friday.

River did not allow Washougal to score in double figures in any quarter. The Chieftains built a 25-7 halftime lead.

Jacob Hjort paced River with 16 points. The Chieftains completed league play at 11-1. Mark Morris (10-1) completes league play Tuesday at home against Ridgefield.
