Kelly Sweyer and Kaily Christensen help provide a spark in a pivotal third quarter for the Beavers in a 2A district tournament loser-out game.

“We put a lot of pressure on them to start the second half,” Woodland coach Glen Flanagan said. “Kelly Sweyer had seven points (in the quarter) and Kaily had six. Those are basically their season-averages (for a game). We got a lot of steals and layins.”

Woodland was able to extend a 27-23 halftime lead into a 10-point margin. The Beavers then sealed the game from the free throw line, making 14 of 16 for the game.

“That makes us 34 of 38 for the two games in district,” Flanagan said. “It would be nice to keep that going.”

Woodland faces Columbia River at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday at Ridgefield High School in another loser-out games.

Nicole Guthrie led the Beavers with 16 points and 10 rebounds. McKenna Flanagan had 10 points and six steals. Christensen finished with 15 points and Sweyer had nine points and four steals.
