LOS ANGELES — Elijah Stewart scored 28 points to lead Southern California to a 72-59 victory over Oregon State on Saturday night.

Stewart shot a blistering 9 of 10 from the floor, including 5-of-5 shooting from 3-point range. Jordan McLaughlin added 13 points and 11 assists for the Trojans (19-9, 10-5 Pac-12 Conference).

USC remains tied for second place in the conference standings with UCLA, which beat Oregon 86-78 in overtime.

Oregon State (13-13, 5-9), in 10th place in the standings, played USC close but wilted down the stretch. The Beavers were outscored 17-8 in the final six minutes. Tres Tinkle and Drew Eubanks led the Beavers with 16 points. Tinkle had a game-high 10 rebounds.

The first half was a tight affair with USC leading 32-30 at the break. The teams were statistically a near mirror of each other in shooting and rebounds in the half. USC led 26-20 with 5:08 to play before Oregon State made a small run to end the half.

Stewart, a senior guard, paced the Trojans early in the second half when he scored eight points in the first four minutes.

USC beat Oregon State 74-67 in Corvallis in their first meeting on January 20.
