Letter: Republicans, protect democracy

What does it mean that Russians meddled in our election? The last 15 months have shown us: We have a president and a national party who have given Russia a quid pro quo. President Donald Trump was supposed to enforce sanctions against Russia for meddling in the election by the end of January. He failed to do so, and the Republican-controlled House and Senate have failed to force him.

This administration has ties to Russia and lies about it. Security clearances are denied, and compromised people remain in place. The National Rifle Association is being looked at for having laundered money, Sean Hannity says, “#release the memo” (the Nunes memo) just like the Russian bots, House Speaker Paul Ryan and Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy are on tape discussing Trump and Russia’s connection.

Please, Republicans — watch news other than Fox, get information from Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists, contact your representatives and protest against all the norms and laws that are being broken.

The FBI is fair and impartial. We Dems wondered about this ourselves when FBI Director James Comey came out 11 days before the election against Hillary Clinton. Only guilty people discredit their accusers.

Where are you, our fellow citizens? Democracy is at stake!
