Now called the “Kalama Harbor Lodge,” the four-story hotel, restaurant and brewpub is slated to open on the Columbia River in the spring.

“Things are going great at Kalama, and construction is moving along quickly,” said Renee Rank-Ignacio, marketing director for McMenamins.

Man found dead after reports of shots fired in Vancouver

A man was found dead early Saturday morning in Vancouver’s Image neighborhood, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

Police responded to reports of shots fired shortly after 4 a.m. to the 12500 block of Northeast 28th Street, according to a police news release. Officers found the man’s body in the area.

“There is no suspect information at this time, but detectives do not believe there is a threat to the general public,” the news release said.

Suspect in two Vancouver shootings arrested early Sunday

A man suspected in two shootings in Vancouver was arrested early Sunday morning, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

Isaac Depre Frazier, 22, was identified as a passenger in a vehicle stopped by Vancouver patrol officers about 2:15 a.m. He was arrested without incident on a felony warrant and as a suspect in the shooting cases, according to a news release from the department.

In addition to the felony warrant, Frazier was booked into the Clark County Jail by the Vancouver Police Major Crimes Unit on suspicion of assault, drive-by shooting and unlawful possession of a firearm in connection with a Nov. 8 shooting outside the QuarterDeck Bar parking lot at 4300 N.E. Fourth Plain Blvd., the news release said. That shooting wounded one person, according to previous reports.

Hundreds mourn Vancouver man at vigil

Candles lit up the end of Northeast Leverich Park Way on Saturday night as hundreds of people gathered to pay their respects to James “Jimmy” Rennells, who was found dead in the area, nearly a week after he went missing.

Friends, family, acquaintances and even people who didn’t know the 41-year-old Vancouver man attended the candlelight vigil to support one another.

Searchers found Rennells’ body in the Leverich Park area Wednesday, by a creek near the Ellen Davis Trail.

“I just don’t understand it,” Rennells’ father, Dan Rennells, said in an interview. “There was no reason for him to be out here that we can conceive.”

James Rennells called family shortly before 10 p.m. Dec. 22 to say he was on his way home from work, but he never made it home.
