Jacob Hjort hit five 3-pointers as a part of his 23 points in Columbia River’s 69-53 win over Woodland in a 2A Greater St. Helens League matchup on Thursday night.

The Chieftains lead by 21 points at halftime.

Woodland scored 21 points in the third quarter, and Alex Bishop had 21 of his 28 points in the second half, but River maintained a steady lead throughout.

“We defended really well. Had a good gameplan defensively and the kids really worked hard,” Columbia River coach David Long said. “And we shot well. It’s a great recipe, really.”

Caden Dezort posted five boards and five assists for the Cheiftains.

River moves to 3-0 in 2A GSHL play in front of a home game against Mark Morris Saturday.

“I’m not surprised how well we’re playing at this point,” Long said. “The experience from last year is really paying off.”
