Firefighters quickly extinguished a garage fire Saturday night at a Battle Ground home northeast of Battle Ground Lake.

Units from Clark County Fire District 3 responded to a call at about 7 p.m. of a fire in the 26400 block of Northeast 212th Avenue.

“We arrived to find smoke coming from an attached garage,” said Jeff Stewart, a battalion chief for Fire District 3.

Stewart said firefighters suppressed the fire quickly and contained it to the garage. Six units from Fire District 3 responded and another from Clark County Fire and Rescue assisted.

Though the fire was out in minutes, Stewart said firefighters remained on the scene for more than three hours and “put a lot of effort into making sure the content in the garage was extinguished.”

Stewart said no injuries were reported but the local American Red Cross responded at about 8:30 p.m. to assist two adults in their 60s who live in the home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Clark County Fire Marshal’s office.
