Girls basketball: Prairie 71, Mountain View 23

Cassidy Gardner scored 19 points and Brooke Walling added 17 in Prairie’s league win over Mountain View.

The Falcons jumped up to a 25-8 lead after one quarter and led by 25 at half.

“They took control from the beginning,” Mountain View coach Dave McIntosh said. “We wanted to slow the game, they sped the game up quicker than we would have liked.”

Prairie, which hit two more 3s (14) than it did two-point field goals, outscored the Thunder 22-0 in the third.

The Falcons finished with 14 steals and 18 assists on its 26 made baskets.

Walling finished with eight boards and Allison Corral added four steals along with her 11 points.

Mountain View’s Dejah Wilson finished with 17 points.

Gardner’s 19 points was a game-high.

McIntosh called her Prairie’s most underrated player.
