Clark Asks: What do you want to ask Herrera Beutler’s opponents?

The 2018 primary is quickly approaching and The Columbian Editorial Board is meeting with candidates for a variety of offices this month — including challengers for Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler’s U.S. House seat.

We’d like to know what questions you would ask the candidates who have filed to challenge Herrera Beutler for office.

Democrats Carolyn Long, David McDevitt, Dorothy Gasque and Martin Hash and Republicans Michael Cortney and Earl Bowerman all officially filed to challenge the incumbent from Battle Ground.

We’re asking readers to submit questions or topics they would like the candidates to address.

The Columbian Editorial Board, led by Opinion Page Editor Greg Jayne, will put some of the questions submitted by readers to the candidates that accept our invitation to meet with the board later this month.

A few tips on submitting questions: Don’t make a topic so broad that it couldn’t be addressed by multiple people in the length of time allowed. And make sure it’s an issue that the U.S. House of Representatives actually has jurisdiction over.

Clark Asks is a feature we launched a year ago allowing readers to ask questions about Clark County. We do our best to find the answers. Read those stories and learn more at columbian.com/clark-asks.
