For the eleventh consecutive year, Clark Public Utilities has earned top marks from J.D. Power in customer satisfaction among midsize electricity providers in the Western United States.

“For those of us who have been longtime proponents of public power, it’s no surprise that our PUD, and the reliable, at-cost power it provides, is much appreciated,” Clark Public Utilities Commissioner Jim Malinowski said in a news release. “Staff of this utility is genuinely committed to doing what’s best for the customers and local business community here in Clark County and recognition like this from J.D. Power is just a reflection of that ongoing work.”

J.D. Power measures electric utilities’ customer satisfaction in six areas: power quality and reliability, price, billing and payment, corporate citizenship, and communications and customer service. Clark customers gave them the highest scores in all categories out of all utilities in the West midsize division.

The West region covers Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. J.D. Power considers midsize utilities as between 100,000 and 499,999 residential customers.

J.D. Power is a marketing and data analytics company. It designs and finances the study, which received more than 100,000 customer responses. J.D. Power then used their responses to compare 138 electric utilities, that collectively serve more than 100 million households.

“While it’s called customer satisfaction by J.D. Power, it’s important for us on the board to remember that this survey measures every area of utility operations, not just customer service,” Malinowski said in the release. “Some of the most heavily weighted areas are related to reliability and the work of line crews and engineers, and the billing functions. It doesn’t matter how friendly or helpful we are if we can’t get the basics right.”
