Oregon woman faces vehicular assault charge in Vancouver crash

A 52-year-old Oregon woman was arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault Thursday evening after she crashed her car at the Intersection of East Mill Plain Boulevard and northbound Interstate 5.

A witness told a Vancouver police officer that a silver car was westbound on Mill Plain and ran a red light at the intersection, crashing into an eastbound silver Honda turning onto the northbound lanes of the freeway, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The officer asked the driver, identified as Colette Grieser, if she’d drank alcohol or had taken any drugs, to which the woman allegedly responded that she had consumed six beers the previous night. But the police officer noted signs of intoxication, the affidavit says.

After failing a walk-and-turn test, Grieser agreed to a breath test and registered a blood-alcohol level of .276, the affidavit says. In Washington, a level of .08 or greater is considered evidence of DUI.

“The driver of the other vehicle involved in the collision … suffered a broken (leg) as a result of the collision, in addition to a possible collar bone fracture,” the affidavit says.

At a hearing in Clark County Superior Court on Friday, judge Suzan Clark granted Grieser supervised release and set an arraignment date of June 19.
