The Vancouver Police Department has not identified any suspects or made arrests in a downtown shooting early Sunday morning.

A woman was reported shot about 2 a.m. The shooting happened near the intersection of Broadway and Seventh Street, and the victim was apparently a bystander.

Investigators believe the woman was among multiple people exiting various “establishments” that were closing for the night when she was hit by gunfire from an unknown source, police department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said in an email.

The suspects were “shooting in the vicinity, and she was hit,” Kapp said. Police had not interviewed the woman as of Tuesday morning, she said.

It is unknown what the shooter or shooters may have been targeting, Kapp said.

Police said there is no threat to the public. The Safe Streets Task Force, which investigates street gang activity, is investigating, as are major crimes detectives.
