Vancouver firefighters responded to a house fire Wednesday morning and found a man in the driveway suffering from smoke inhalation.

The firefighters were dispatched about 6:19 a.m. to 820 N.E. 101st Court, a home in the Marrion neighborhood. They arrived at the scene of the fire within five minutes, said Vancouver Fire spokesman Kevin Stromberg.

When the initial fire engine arrived, responders found the unidentified man in the driveway, Stromberg said. He was taken to a local hospital.

Then, firefighters found smoke and flames rolling out of the master bedroom window at the back of the home.

“They made an aggressive interior attack and were able to contain the fire in the bedroom,” Stromberg said. It took about 15 minutes to get the fire under control, he said.

The fire department did not have any initial information about what caused the fire.

The Vancouver Fire Marshal was called in to investigate. Firefighters remained on the scene for cleanup.
