Letter: Herrera Beutler falls short

I received a response to a request I made for Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, to support national parks. Her form letter stated how fortunate we were to call Southwest Washington home, extolling its diverse landscapes and natural resources. Most of us would agree.

However, I also heard from the League of Conservation Voters ratings of voting records on bills protecting these same landscapes and resources. Herrera Beutler scored 9 out of 100.

This year has been a disaster for the environment. If you want to preserve our natural beauty, clean air and water, and way of life, remember this score in November. There must be a better candidate who has the courage to stand up for their stated beliefs.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
