Prep highlights: Ferguson fans 15 in five-inning no-hitter

Kennedy Ferguson had never had 15 strikeouts in a single game before.

Wednesday, the Camas senior only needed five innings to reach that goal.

Ferguson threw a no-hitter as Camas beat Scappoose, Ore., 14-0 in a five-inning game ended by the 10-run mercy rule.

Every out recorded by Ferguson came via strikeout. The only blemish for the New Mexico commit was four walks.

Ferguson also had three RBI, all coming on sacrifice flies.

Kyli Obermiller went 3 for 3 with two doubles and two RBI. Payton Bates drove in three runs and was 2 for 3. Seanna Miller and Mary Pipkin each had two RBI for Camas (1-2).

Stars of the day

• Lincoln Krog, Stevenson boys track and field, won the high jump (6-5) and 100 meters (11.64) in a three-way meet with La Center and Castle Rock.

• Micah Kinnunen, Hockinson boys track and field, won the 100 (11.37), 200 (23.48) and long jump (19-0) win a 75-69 win over Woodland.

• Elijah Lavin and Levan Zhividze, Evergreen boys soccer, provided the goal-assist combination twice in a 2-2 tied with Evergreen.

• Hailey Oster, Camas girls golf, was the medalist with a 38 at Camas Meadows as Camas beat rival Union 158-193.
