Vancouver shifting to digital land-use applications

Land-use applications for the city of Vancouver are making the shift to digital. Beginning May 21, all applications will need to be submitted electronically. This also means any land-use applications will need to use ePlans software, which the city first introduced in June 2017.

“We’re looking forward to continuing to find ways to improve and simplify our plan review process for our customers to save them time and money,” said City Development Review Division Manager Jason Nortz in a press release.

The digital process will reduce both the need for physical trips to City Hall and printed hard copies. Plan review should be expedited as a result of the electronic process as well.

The ePlan platform allows customers to submit development applications, commercial and residential building permits, grading permits and fire alarm/sprinkler protection applications.

To help with the transition, the city is offering free training classes before the service launches. Classes are from 5 to 6 p.m. May 15, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. May 16 and 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. May 17. All classes will be held at City Hall in the Aspen Conference Room. To reserve a spot, email Lead Permit Specialist Lisa Eruhow-Hagan at Lisa.Eruhow-Hagan@cityofvancouver.us.
