Camas — Salud!, a wine bar, event venue and wine storage facility in Camas, was awarded the Economic Vitality Award at Washington Main Street’s Excellence on Main Awards ceremony, held April 24 in Port Townsend.

The venue, 224 N.E. Third Ave., was previously home to Sears, which closed in 2016. Salud! is owned by married couples Yolanda and Gerald Taylor and Raechill and Tony Dotson, who bought the space and remodeled it to fit their vision of a wine bar and event space.

They exposed old beams, put up walls and built a wine storage area.

“Communities everywhere are struggling with reuse of historic buildings originally suited for department stores,” Breanne Durham, Washington Main Street coordinator, said in a press release.

“Salud! Wine Bar represents the innovative spirit of Main Street: adaptive, creative and rooted in bringing people together.”
