Foster Langsdorf continues to make his mark within the Portland Timbers organization.

The 22-year-old forward from Vancouver scored three goals Friday as T2, the Timbers’ United Soccer League affiliate, beat LA Galaxy II 7-3 at Providence Park.

Langsdorf’s hat trick was the first in the four-year history of T2. With five goals in nine appearances, the Mountain View High grad has more goals than any T2 player scored last season.

“I thought he was outstanding,” T2 coach Cameron Knowles said of Langsdorf. “If you look at his work rate up there — the amount of pressure he put their players under, the amount of balls that he fights for and he puts himself in good positions to score — he’s got a lot of quality finishing in front of goal. I think he’s been very good. He’s been good all year and the way that he fights and battles and applies himself to training it’s no surprise to see him doing so well.”

Langsdorf scored his team’s first three goals in front of a Friday morning crowd of 5,857. He scored from a tight angle in the 25th minute, then doubled T2’s lead from close range in the 43rd minute.

Langsdorf was fouled in the penalty area, then stepped up to convert the penalty kick that gave T2 a 3-1 lead in the 57th minute.

The win improved T2 to 6-3-2 (20 points), two points behind first place Real Monarchs SLC in the United Soccer League Western Conference.

Langsford signed with the Timbers before this season as one of three “homegrown players” on the roster. That came after a Stanford career that saw him set the Pac-12 career goals record (37) and lead the Cardinal to three straight NCAA championships.
