I have no personal attachment to the possession of firearms in America. I do not own a gun, nor do I plan on obtaining one in the near future. However, the debate on gun control has become a bit ridiculous.
People claiming that a stricter policy regarding who may or may not purchase guns will allow our government to remove firearms from those already in possession of them. And the claims that keeping, or even loosening, these policies would allow everyday citizens, including criminals, to purchase military-grade weaponry have reached a bit far.
As far as gun-control laws go, endorsing gun control would simply mean a tighter grip on people who are allowed to purchase guns. Though it would put a limit on citizens who might want to purchase firearms, those who want to cause harm in society, those who would use those firearms in an illegal way, would already have illegal means of obtaining them. Hence, I feel that tightening the policies will only harm the relationship American citizens have with the government in the long run.
