Ahead of the June 14 Flag Day celebration, Davidson & Associates Insurance is holding an American flag exchange program at its downtown office.

People can pick up a flag or exchange an old flag for a new one from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., June 11 through June 15 at 610 Esther St., Suite 101. This is the third year the company has offered the exchange; 150 flags, measuring 3 feet by 5 feet, will be available.

“Flag Day is such an important way to celebrate our country and Vancouver’s strong commitment to patriotism,” Bruce Davidson, president of Davidson & Associates Insurance, said in a news release. “We are honored to offer new ‘Stars and Stripes’ to our residents and to sponsor Flag Day events at Fort Vancouver on June 14.”

Fort Vancouver District Boy Scouts of America will perform proper flag retirement ceremonies for all old flags. Exchanged flags should be removed from poles and dried if wet.

The Historic Trust’s 24th annual Flag Day at Fort Vancouver will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. June 14 at the bandstand across from Grant House, 1101 Officers Row, on the Fort Vancouver National Site.

For information about the flag exchange, call Davidson & Associates at 360-514-9550. For information about Flag Day, contact The Historic Trust at 360-992-1804 or https://thehistorictrust.org/calendar/flag-day.
