Kyle Busby, an employee of Gibbs & Olson, a Longview-based civil engineering and land surveying firm, recently passed a Professional Engineer’s exam, a state exam for engineers and land surveyors. Busby assists with roadway, site, stormwater, sewer and water design projects and stormwater analysis. To become a licensed professional engineer, applicants must have a four-year engineering degree from an accredited program, have at least four years of supervised experience under a professional engineer, pass two intensive competency exams, and earn a license from the state’s licensure board. Busby received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from University of Washington. Terassa Wren was hired as executive assistant for Heidi Johnson Bixby, who serves as CEO of three area businesses: Johnson Bixby, a financial planning, investment management and tax advisory firm; Integrated Tax Services; and The Difference, a clothing boutique, all in Vancouver. In addition to keeping activities and schedules organized and streamlined at those businesses, Wren will also provide support to Global Sojourns Giving Circle, H-RoC and Columbia Springs, all organizations in which Johnson Bixby has board member responsibilities. Wren spent five years working in the U.S. Congress as an executive and staff assistant, and held executive assistant roles at Nike and BVOH, an accounting and finance search and consulting firm. Vancouver-based WellHaven Pet Health, a veterinary hospital chain, hired three new top executives in an effort to put more women in leadership roles. Former Midwest Dental chief operating officer Jenni Jones was hired as WellHaven’s new chief operating officer. Dr. Jen Burns, formerly Wellhaven’s vice president of talent, was promoted to chief veterinary officer, and WellHaven employee Michelle Phuong was promoted to director of systems and projects. WellHaven was founded in 2017 by CEO John Bork, and has rapidly expanded its footprint in the Portland region. The company’s portfolio is a mix of existing animal hospitals purchased by WellHaven and new ones built from the ground up.

The Columbia River Economic Development Council recently elected new members for its board of directors and executive committee members. Board of directors for 2019 are: Chair: Casey Wyckoff, LSW Architects; Vice Chair: Lisa Lowe, Schwabe Williamson & Wyatt; Immediate Past Chair: Greg Seifert, Biggs Insurance Services; Treasurer: Lisa Dow, Columbia Bank; Secretary: Helen Devery, BergerABAM.

The following individuals were elected to serve a three-year term on the board of directors: Alan Hwang, ACH Marketing; Andy Lowery, RealWear; Kara Fox-LaRose, ilani; Tim Price, Yaculta.
