Clark County reports 95 new COVID-19 cases, one new death since Friday

Fatality was woman age 80 or older with underlying health conditions

Clark County recorded 95 new cases and one new death since Friday in data released Monday by Clark County Public Health.

The fatality, the first since Sept. 11 in Clark County, involved a woman age 80 or older with underlying health conditions, according to Public Health. Her death brings the county’s total due to COVID-19 to 54.

The 95 new cases since Friday work out to about 31 new cases a day and bring the county’s total cases to 3,170, according to Public Health.

The number of active cases, which measures people with a positive COVID-19 test still in their 10-day isolation period, fell from 152 on Friday to 132 on Monday.

There are 26 people hospitalized with COVID-19 and 12 people hospitalized awaiting test results, according to Public Health.

To date, 30 of the 54 people who have died from COVID-19 in Clark County were age 80 or older, 55.5 percent of total fatalities, even though they represent only 5 percent of total cases reported by Clark County Public Health.

Among the remaining fatalities to date, 10 were in their 70s, 10 were in their 60s, one was in their 50s, one was in their 40s and two were in their 30s. There have been no deaths reported for anyone under the age of 30.

Of the deaths, 34 have been male and 20 female, according to Public Health.
