McDonald’s sales will help Minnehaha girl
Minnehaha Elementary teachers and students will team up with the Hazel Dell McDonald’s restaurant Tuesday to raise money for a second-grade girl.
From 5 to 7 p.m., the McDonald’s at 7010 N.E. Highway 99 will hold a fundraising event for Sarah Bizgan. Ten percent of the sales proceeds will go to the “Supporting Our Sarah” fund. The second-grader has cirrhosis of the liver and is awaiting a liver transplant.
Supporters also have set up the Sarah C. Bizgan Fund at the Minnehaha branch of First Independent Bank.
More than 200 aided by Homeless Connection
The final tally showed more than 200 homeless people were aided through Clark County’s first Homeless Connection event.
The one-stop service project on April 26 was supported by 250 volunteers and 100 service providers, according to Council for the Homeless. In addition to hot meals and haircuts, people who showed up at the Hudson’s Bay High School cafeteria received some significant health-care services: 46 received eye exams, and 33 got new pairs of glasses.
A book drive provided reading material and several children received reconditioned bicycles and new helmets. |
