The Columbian welcomes visits from groups wishing to tour the newspaper facility.

Tours are offered on the second Tuesday at 3:00PM and third Thursday at 10:00AM of every month.

(A morning tour time may give you the opportunity to see our large Goss Metro press in action!)

Tour description

Short, lively video that shows the life cycle of a newspaper, followed by interactive conversation about history of this locally owned newspaper, some information on how a newspaper is produced and the jobs needed to do it, what's changing in the news world (Internet, Mobile, etc.) and more. Walking tour of portions of the facility, including plate making, pressroom, and packaging center. (Walking tour includes one short flight of steps, and a couple of gently sloping ramps, and about 3 blocks of walking.)
