Debbie Johnson poses for a portrait at her Vancouver home. Johnson’s mother, Mildred “Mickey” Newman, was verbally and physically abused by a registered nursing assistant in April 2009 while living in an adult family home in Vancouver. Earlier this month, more than two years after the incidents occurred, the Washington State Department of Health suspended the nursing assistant’s license for two years.
