Park ranger Mark Shaw transplants a tree from a new trail to the campground at Paradise Point State Park in December 2011. Shaw received a letter of promotion in February 2012, on the same day he found out he’d be laid off as part of major cutbacks in the state parks system announced to cover an $11 million revenue gap.
