Hundreds of visitors made the trip to Johnston Ridge Observatory on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, thirty one years after the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, was urged in letter last week from 37 elected officials to take a harder look at a years-old question: Should Mount St. Helens receive national park status?
