Lewis County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ross McDowell is comforted by his wife, Rita, after speaking Saturday at a memorial service at Woodland High School for La Center Police Officer Scott Reinecke. Reinecke died Sept. 10 at the age of 51 from an unknown medical issue. McDowell was among between 150 to 200 people who turned out to pay tribute to Reinecke, a 13-year veteran officer of the department. McDowell knew Reinecke for almost 30 years after being cadets together at police academy in St. Louis.
