Steve Wells, right, a Portland State University research assistant, and PSU student Leonard Caldwell attach treated tiles to a metal frame that will be submerged and fastened to a dock at the Port of Camas-Washougal. The Bonneville Power Administration and PSU researchers are testing silicon-based coatings they hope will repel invasive mussels if they arrive in the Columbia River.
