An "Out of Gas" sign at the gas station at the intersection of SW Jefferson and 18th St. in June 1973 in Portland during the fuel shortage. Similar signs cropped up all over the Portland area during the fuel crisis. The image was taken for the then new Environmental Protection Agency's "Documerica" program, 1972-1977, to document subjects of environmental concern.
