Foster mom Marilee Donovan tends to colt Midnight as Midnight’s mother, Pearl, looks on at Donovan’s Brush Prairie farm on Wednesday. Pearl was dehydrated, malnourished and pregnant when she was seized in August by Clark County Animal Control. Horse neglect and abuse cases persist in Clark County, which is home to an estimated 30,000 horses. At top, Pearl and Midnight spend time outside Wednesday at their foster farm. Both will be up for adoption after Midnight is weaned.
