Vancouver City Councilor Jack Burkman and his colleagues use their new iPads during a workshop session Monday. The city council, along with Vancouver’s police command staff and department heads, have received the Apple tablets in an effort to drastically reduce paper use, save money and become more efficient. Burkman bought his iPad himself last year to see if the system would work well for elected officials. At top, Vancouver City Councilor Jeanne Harris uses her iPad while preparing for the workshop. The city held a training class for those who were unfamiliar with the touch-screen format.
