News crews gather at the home of U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Robert Bales, Friday, March 16, 2012, in Lake Tapps, Wash. Bales is accused of killing 16 Afghan civilians. Bales has not yet been charged. He was being flown Friday from Kuwait to a military detention center at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., the military's only maximum-security prison.
