A Washougal Police officer responds to a house fire and standoff on Dec. 7. Investigators later determined that Steven Stanbary shot his wife and her sister before burning down his home with all three of them in it. Violent crime was up 56.5 in Washougal in 2011, but fell in Clark County as a whole.
