Elena Lawler, center, launched Northwest Interpreters Inc. in 1992 after arriving in Vancouver from Kazakhstan. Years later, her children, Vic Marcus, right, 31, and Karina Marcus, left, 26, are helping expand the business, which provides interpreting services and translates documents in 175 languages.
