Judge Judge Diane Woolard, who took office in 2000, was the last woman sworn-in as a Superior Court judge in Clark County. In her time on the bench, she's seen five men take Superior Court positions, and hopes more women will step up in the years ahead.

Clark County Judge Barbara Johnson prepares for an afternoon court session this past week. Johnson was the first woman judge in Clark County when she took office in 1987. She's seen only one other woman take the Superior Court bench in her 25-year tenure; however, she believes Clark County is still becoming diversified on the bench because of the appointments of two female District Court judges and two female District Court commissioners.
