A "Mac 'n' Cheese Explosion" potluck at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 19 with the families sheltered by the Winter Hospitality Overflow project at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 5607 N.E. Gher Road, Vancouver, will launch a sundown-to-sundown fast. The First Congregational Church of Christ is organizing the 24-hour "Fast for the Children" as a call for the Washington legislature to restore funding for a program that helps feed nearly 14,000 of the state's children.
