Bill Staples, a Mississippi Department of Health employee, receives a flu vaccination from registered nurse Rosemary Jones in October in Jackson, Miss. A survey by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that in 2011, 29 hospitals fired employees that were not vaccinated.
