The entrance to the Sweden Mine, owned by Portland investment banker and doctor Henry W. Coe, circa 1904. A strong proponent of exploring the St. Helens Mining District, Coe founded the Mount St. Helens Consolidated Mining Co. and convinced President Theodore Roosevelt to invest in his mining claims.
