Thompson Metal Fab, located at the former Kaiser Shipyard site on the Columbia River, would have had to relocate if a new bridge had been built. But the company hoped to win large construction contracts from the project. Many local companies and the Port of Vancouver favored the Columbia River Crossing project, which was declared dead by Washington and Oregon governors after Washington's Senate rejected state funding last weekend.
