A woman is escorted from Esther Short Commons to needed medical care on Sunday, Aug. 26, after she stood outside her balcony ledge, throwing her belongings into the parking lot below and then hitting the railing with a hatchet.
Channel 8 records the scene at Esther Short Commons, while Vancouver Fire, Police, EMTs, and the Sheriff worked together to make sure the distressed woman was safe and no one got hurt. Light was fading, which lent urgency to the resolution of this standoff that lasted most of the day.
