Bio: Mathew K. M. Tomaskin was born and raised in Yakima Valley, and he is running for state office for the first time. Tomaskin graduated from Wapato High School in 1982 and served in the United States Army for six years. He then worked in California, where he became a certified medical assistant. He later worked in Arizona before returning to Washington in 1993.
Tomaskin has been deeply involved with Yakama Nation in many capacities, including chair of various committees within the Yakama Tribal Council and legislative liaison for the Yakama Nation.
Tomaskin also has contributed to Yakama Nations Fisheries Resource Management and has served on the Yakima Valley Visitors and Convention Bureau Board.
