Bio: Dan Swecker has served as state senator since 1995, and during that time has sat on the following standing committees: Government Operations, Tribal Relations & Elections; Natural Resources & Marine Waters; and Transportation.
Swecker, a native of Montana, graduated from high school in Wyoming in 1965. He moved to Washington, where he attended the University of Washington for one year before dropping out and joining the army. He served in the Vietnam War as a U.S. Army helicopter pilot, for which he received a Purple Heart.
He returned to Washington in 1970 and received his B.A. degree in cooperative education from The Evergreen State College. Swecker serves as the secretary and treasurer of the Washington Fish Growers Association and has served as fire commissioner in Thurston County, board member of the Centralia Christian School Foundation and president of the American Salmon Growers Association.
