Bio: Jaime Herrera Beutler was elected to her first term in the 3rd Congressional District in November 2010. The congresswoman serves on two House committees: Small Business, and Transportation and Infrastructure. Prior to becoming a U.S. representative, Herrera Beutler worked a three-year stint as Washington state representative for Clark County's 18th District. She was appointed by Clark and Cowlitz county commissioners to finish an unexpired term vacated by Rep. Richard Curtis, R-La Center. She was re-elected to that seat in 2008. Herrera Beutler was born Nov. 3, 1978, in California but grew up in Southwest Washington. She earned a bachelor's in communication from the University of Washington. She interned in 2004 for state Sen. Joe Zarelli, R-Ridgefield, and worked as a senior legislative assistant to U.S. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-Spokane, prior to taking office.
